Oh yes. Cartoon Network has fallen FAR from its original form. We exchanged good cartoons like Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Johnny Bravo, and Ed Edd & Eddy for crap like Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Annoying Orange, and Level Up (which ain't even a cartoon!).
Eh, Looney Tunes is alright. The new version in CN is ugh. I prefer more mature cartoons with deeper stories.Yes, I'm talking about Adventure Time. Don't judge a book by it's cover, I thought it was just going to be rainbows and random nonsense at first.
I don't mind some new stuff either - some episodes of MAD are pretty good, and Regular Show hasn't really weirded me out (not that I watched it too much). But yeah, I just don't see the hype with Adventure Time.
Adventure Time... is the show perfect? Hell no, there are episodes I can't stand and have been disappointed with... at first I could not stand it but underneath it's odd/silly/shockfactor surface AT actually has a deep core that goes beyond each episode, while the episodes do stand alone they also all fit together in a continuous story with seemingly pointless things suddenly adding up to major plot-points later, the characters are also physically aging and emotionally growing as the series moves on, and that is unique for a show of this nature.
I started watching just because it was on at a convenient time for me to watch... it seemed like simple wacky crap to mindlessly watch... but as time went on I found myself getting emotionally invested in the characters and by the time we got to episodes like the 3 parter "The Lich - Jake the Dog - Finn the Human" I found myself awwed by how intense and great the show can get when it takes itself seriously and actually sets the wacky crap aside to bring its more serious and emotional undertones to the surface... and then "I Remember You" and its continuation "Simon and Marcy" aired... I not only was I emotionally floored by both episodes but those 2 episodes took the character I hated the most (Ice King) and turned him into my favorite character.
So yeah, at first I did not get the hype but as time passed the show managed to show me some merit.
